Very light purple "Property of American Bank Note Co." hand stamped on back with literally no bleed through to front. Printed in black with bright orange undertint. Baldwin, Bald & Cousland, New York / Bald, Cousland & Co., Philadelphia imprint on bottom of note. POC. Gem Uncirculated Condition. Scarce and very attractive note. Lot # 1832 in sale. Specimen baby bond. Red specimen overprints, POC's and blue "00000" serial numbers. Face has Texas "Star" vignette in middle and is printed in black. 20 miniature coupons on bottom for 40 cents each. "Issued By Authority of and Act of the Legislature of the State of Texas. Approved April 21st, 1879". 4% bond. Back is in green and has bond legend describing purpose of bond which was to retire old Texas state debt. Extremely rare Texas baby bond.
