Unique Production file for proposed 1954 "Freedom Yuan", Central Bank of China, banknote essay series by SBNC that was never issued. Evidently the "Cultural Revolution" got in the way of this issue coming into existance. This group includes proofs, specimens, models and original artwork and sketches for the proposed designs. Incuded are partially completed design proofs for face and back of 10 Freedom Yuan banknote. Face has SYS on left and CKS on right. Central star vignette has Chinese lettering for "Freedom". Written in small letters on upper right is "10F-BN-26037" and on upper left is date "6-11-54". Back has "Central Bank of China" and "10 Freedom Yuan" on right. Both printed in black. A uniface specimen of P-283 is also included. Also included are undertint proofs; corner proofs; original artwork for central face vignette; proof of border and outline of face proof; pencil sketches of Chinese text and numerals and design elements; a pencil sketch of the map of China; original hand drawn in ink of the central Chinese characters for "Freedom" as well as the banknote title. Original file folder included that has undertint proof of "Freedom" note as well as additional production correspondence. Unlisted in Pick. Unique oppurtunity to own an unknown proposed essay production file. Deserves further research. Choice condition overall.
