Mining Stock & Bond Certificates

This auction includes close to 200 lots of specimen and proof mining stocks and bonds. It is one of the largest groups of security printed mining archival material auctioned in the last 15 years. A considerable number of these certificates are “Discovery” pieces and new to the collecting community. Many of these pieces may not show again for many years and represent true mining certificate “Gems”.

Lot # 834. Issued stock certificate. Amazing and classic early Arizona stock certificate, 14.5 by 8.75 inches. Green border with green title, corporate seal and text with gold undertint of map of Music Mountains and Vincinity, Gold mountain on right, map with labeled railroad tracks for the A.&P.RR as well as different cities, counties, mountains and mines labelled. Extremely rare and popular certificate. XF condition. This is not from the archive or even a security printer, but I like its artistic design and wanted to include it with the extensive mining section included in this sale.

The 5 lots of Bodie stock certificates offered in this sale represent the largest group of unique Bodie stock certificates to enter the market in years. All of them represent the initial production process in the design of the certificates. Some are essays, but most represent either the final versions or a portion of the final versions of these rare certificates. All are unique in the archive and may represent the last opportunity to purchase a proof or design approval proof in the near future. Due to popular demand, I am also selling my only issued Bodie certificate, "The Hidden Treasure Consolidated Mining Company", along with his friends.

Lot # 712. Bodie Mining District - Standard Consolidated Mining Company - Coin Vignette. Unique signed approval proof stock certificate printed on india paper. Black border. "Location Bodie Mining Dist., Mono Co., California". Cherub holding onto a 1879 Seated Liberty Coin with train and cities in background vignette. Appears in XF condition with usual archival folds and notations. Rare Bodie Mining District stock certificate proof.

Unique Yukon-Alaska Stock Certificate Proof - Guggenheim Related Company

Lot # 696. Unique Yukon-Alaska Trust Proof - Guggenheim Exploration Co. Related. Proof stock certificate of vignette, title and text without border. Printed on white paper with purple "Cancelled" overprints referring to the destruction of the printing plates. "Yukon-Alaska Trust -Trustees' Certificate of Beneficial Interest". Text further states "The undersigned trustees under a certain indenture entered between them and Guggenheim Exploration Company dated February 4, 1916, ...the value of the trust fund depends principally on the mineral content of the properties of the corporations whose securities are held in trust. ....". This is a historic Guggenheim mining related company and is unique in the archive. No specimens were found. This is it.
